Bird Watching Carara National Park

Overview

Carara National Park is a hot spot for bird watching on the Pacific Slope of Costa Rica.

Carara Park is located approximately an hour and a half from Manuel Antonio National Park. Carara is the place where the two predominant Pacific forests converge (Dry Forest meets the humid forest). This incredible peculiarity makes Carara Park a strong point for the nesting and growth of an impressive number of birds.

In Carara we can find species of both types of forest. The characteristics of the Carara National Park make it a mandatory expedition for bird lovers.

During the expedition to Carara we will be able to observe some impressive species such as toucans, momots, manakins, ant birds, herons, parrots, tinamus, trogons, wrens, and an abundant number of endemic species.

The expedition to Carara National Park begins with an early pickup at your hotel in Manuel Antonio or Quepos. The early hours of the morning are key for bird watching, so an early pickup is extremely important. Our guide and driver will take you to our expedition. During the road trip, your naturalist guide will show you many different species that we can find before arriving to Carara Park.

For this expedition, if you like, you can add the boat tour to the Tarcoles River. The boat tour is approximately a 2-hour trip, the purpose is to explore the mangroves and forests along the river. At Tarcoles river you can discover an impressive population of birds. To add the boat trip, then we need your request.
